Imagine a ten lane highway with ten vast trucks, loaded full of volts, thundering down each lane abreast every second of every day all year. If you want to cross the highway wouldn't you be dissuaded by this formidable barrier ?
The ten, thick stainless steel filaments in our tape seem the same to any horse even a rampant stallion.

Thinner filaments constrict the amount of power that can pass into the fence and so lower its efficiency. Continuing the analogy, the highway becomes a small tunnel so trucks cannot get through.
You have to use motor cycles.

The fence is even less effective if some of the filaments are broken as the power reduces to a nominal output and the fence doesn't dissuade our rampant stallion.

This is why HORSEGUARD uses the maximum-diameter filaments practically possible (.016 inch diameter) in durable and long lasting, high conductivity stainless steel.
