HORSEGUARD The Original Electric Tape Fence System
#15TR & #15BP Little Lights
Installation of the #15TR little light
for traditional tape
|
- 1. Switch OFF your fence charger…
- 2. On your fence, pick an insulator #8 that you can see from your house.
- 3. Replace it with the little light that will blink with each electrical pulse.
- 4. Since installed on the post, curl the thin ground wire around the post to avoid sagging and drive the tiny ground rod into the soil at the post base.
Note : Wait for the following night to see the brightness of the light.Since
this system needs some electricity power from your fence charger to operate,
it has been designed to use only a small amount so it doesn’t weaken the
whole fence. However, we recommend that you only put one of these on
your fence, so there will be a minimum of power used.
Therefore the brightness of the lamp is reduced to a minimum and can be
really seen at night.
|
You now have a visual way (by night) to see if your fence is
ON and with a little practice you will «see» the power
of the pulse that your fence carries.
Thus if the light is very weak or not lits at all, this means that there is a
problem on your fence.
- Too many weeds touching the tape
- Your fence charger is not powerful enough (generally solar chargers are in that category)
- The ground is not effective (too dry or covered with snow)
The answer to these 3 problems is to use the Bi-Polar tape that
doesn’t need ground rod to operate. Also weed shorts are
more rare with Bi-Polar tape.
Installation of the #15BP little light
for "Bi-Polar tape"
|
Same procedure, but no more connection with the ground, as the 5 bottom
wires of the tape replaces the ground rod so no ground rod.
- 1. Switch OFF your fence charger…
- 2. On your fence, pick an insulator #8 that you can see from your house.
- 3. Replace it with the little light that will blink with each electrical pulse.
|
Unscrew / replace / rescrew / that’s all.
Same controls, but you will "see" that on Bi-Polar system the power of the
pulse is maximum (because of the straight connection with your charger)
whatever the season and as a bonus and even a "reasonable" amount of
weed contact won’t affect the fence.
